Directions to the Sackville Street Building
By train:
The Sackville Street Building is close to both Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road train stations.
From Manchester Oxford Road(<10 mins walk):
- Leave the station and travel down the station approach
- Turn right at ‘The Cornerhouse’ and cross the junction taking you to the corner of the Palace Hotel
- Walk straight on down Whitworth Street staying on the right hand side of the road.
- Cross the junction of Princess Street and Whitworth Street and go straight on (there is a RBS cash point on your right hand side)
- At the next junction (of Sackville Street and Whitworth Street) cross the road and turn right
- The Sackville Street Building is on your left, 50 yards down the road in the Sackville Street or ‘Grand’ Entrance notable by its steps and stained glass windows
From Manchester Piccadilly(<5 mins walk):
- Leave the station via Fairfield Street exit (marked ‘Taxis’)
- Cross the road to the Bulls Head pub
- The road to the left of the Bulls Head is called Granby Row
- Follow this road, which becomes pedestrian, until you see a small park on your left and a large red piece of ‘rope’ sculpture in front of you
- The ‘Granby Row’ entrance of the Sackville Street Building is on your right
From Manchester Victoria Station(<15 mins by taxi/tram):
- Take a taxi from the station to the Sackville Street Building, which will cost around £7 OR
- Take the tram from Victoria Station to Piccadilly Station and follow the directions above.
By Car:
- NCUK is most easily accessed by car from the eastbound (anti‐clockwise) A57M (the Mancunian Way).
- From the elevated section of the motorway take the exit for the A34 (marked Congleton)
- On the sliproad take a sharp right marked ‘university’
- You are now on Sackville Street. Paid parking is available in a multi‐storey car park on Charles Street (next left) or permit parking (by arrangement*) is available on Altrincham Terrace
*Permit Parking is available only by arrangement with NCUK and with 48 hours notice. Please contact NCUK in order to arrange a permit which will be sent to you or can be collected from the ‘Gatehouse’ on Sackville Street, opposite the ‘Retro Bar’..

Directions to the NCUK Office
The Sackville Street (or ‘Grand) entrance to the Sackville Street Building is notable for its stained glass and stone steps. This entrance is open 8.30am – 5.30pm, outside of these hours please arrange access with NCUK. To get to the NCUK office from this entrance:
From the Sackville Street Entrance:
- Go through the lobby and through the double doors at the top of the stairs
- Turn right down the corridor and through a set of double doors
- Take the lift on your left (or walk) to E Floor
- Turn left out of the lift and left again through a set of double doors
- The NCUK office is on your right
The Granby Row entrance is closest to Piccadilly train station. This entrance is open 8.30am – 5.30pm, outside of these hours please arrange access with NCUK. To get to the NCUK office from this entrance:
From the Granby Row Entrance (accessible:
- Walk through the lobby and through a set of double doors
- Take the lift (or walk) to D Floor
- Note you can not access the NCUK office from E floor on this side of the building
- Turn right out of the lift and walk to the end of the corridor
- At the end of the corridor turn right and go up a single flight of stairs (or take the lift to E Floor)
- At the top of the stairs turn left and left again through a set of double doors
- The NCUK office is on your right
