The NCUK programme is a shorter course than A-levels. We learned how to do presentations and how to learn independently. We’re really well prepared so it has given me confidence for my studies in the UK.
Before I joined the NCUK IFY, I hadn’t any experience of writing formal essays so the programme really helped me. I was also learning in an English environment so I was able to practise my language skills.
The NCUK programme helped me a lot, particularly with Maths and Microeconomics – the modules are very similar to the ones I am studying now on my university degree course in Management at the University of Manchester.
I think the most useful part of the NCUK programme was the EAP because it taught us to write lab reports. My EAP teacher was really, really good - he taught us about the structure of a report and an essay.
For me, studying on the NCUK programme in my home country was a smoother transition. I studied in English but I could spend time with my family too. NCUK gave me support – academic and helping me with my confidence.
The facilities and learning environment at the University of Manchester, like the Learning Commons and the Joule Library, means there are plenty of rooms for independent study and group work – the atmosphere is great.
