International Year One

What is the International Year One?

The International Year One allows you to study the first year of an undergraduate degree at an NCUK Study Centre, locally or in the UK, and progress directly into Year 2 of a degree at university.

The International Year One has five subject routes to choose from with progression options to 300+ degree courses across 26 leading universities in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

Who is it for?

Designed exclusively for international students, the International Year One will give you the confidence to study at an international university by equipping you with the English language and academic study skills needed to be successful at university.

As the International Year One is delivered by our Global Network of Study Centres, you can choose to start your university degree locally in your home country (or nearby), or at one of our Study Centres in the UK.

The International Year One is a credit-bearing qualification equivalent to the first year of a university undergraduate degree and is trusted by universities worldwide.

Choose your subject route:

Key Benefits

  • Guaranteed progression* to Year 2 of a bachelor’s degree at an NCUK University
  • Graduate with a full bachelor’s degree (your degree certificate will be the same as if you studied all years at university)

  • Choose from hundreds of degree courses at universities in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand
  • Benefit from our English for Academic Purposes module which improves your academic English and is accepted by universities in lieu of IELTS
  • Keep your options open – if you’re unsure of the exact degree course that you want to study, by studying the International Year One you can experience studying modules in your subject area and then finalise your university degree choice for the 2nd year of university study
  • Flexible study options – choose from our Global Network of Study Centres
  • Save money on tuition fees by completing the International Year One locally in your home country
  • Continue your journey to the UK by choosing to study at one of our UK Study Centres, experiencing UK culture and meeting students from different international backgrounds
  • Didn’t meet the entry requirements of your preferred university? The International Year One also gives you a second chance to get into top-ranked universities worldwide
