Alternative Pathways to University: International Year One

For international students looking for an alternative route to university, there is the International Year One. The International Year One is a one-year pathway programme designed to provide students with the academic skills and English language skills needed to gain admission into universities all over the world. The International Year One is equivalent to the first year of a university undergraduate degree meaning that successful completion gives you direct entry into the second year of your chosen undergraduate degree at university.

This section outlines the different routes available for students to progress to university with the International Year One.

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with direct entry to the second year of a university undergraduate degree course, with progression options to more than 300 degree courses across 26 leading universities in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

Study an International Year One at a University Campus Globally

NCUK has also secured options for students to progress to International Year One courses on college and university campuses in countries such as the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA, among others.

With subjects including Art & Design; Associated Health; Business; Computer Science, Engineering and Science; Humanities; and Law, this option provides an immersive experience, exposing students to the academic culture and life at a university abroad while still receiving dedicated support.

Just like the NCUK International Year One pathway, completing the International Year One course ensures a direct progression into the second year of a university degree. However, do note that with the university/college campus options, your progression pathway is specific to the university where you have completed the course.
