Vacancies for Academic Positions at International House Mexico

International House Mexico is currently hiring for several positions which includes an English for Academic Purposes for Proficient Users (EAPPU) Teacher and teachers for the following subjects: Business StudiesEconomics and Maths for Business. EAPPU Teacher – Minimum Requirements/Experience

  • Either TESOL certificate from reputable institutions, CELTA Certificate, ICELT Certificate
  • Master’s degree in English Education
  • At least two years of full time teaching experience (essential)
  • Experience in teaching academic English to non-native speakers of English
  • Experience in teaching students between the ages of 16 to 20 (preferred)
  • Experience or a willingness to be meticulous in grading and providing comprehensive feedback on students’ work
  • C2 proof of English language
  • Expected to teach around 8 hours a week

Subject Teacher (Business Studies, Economics and Maths for Business) – Minimum Requirements/Experience

  • Teachers should have an academic qualification in a relevant subject at UK BA/BSc level
  • At least two years of full-time teaching experience
  • An understanding of UK-style education (preferred)
  • Teachers may teach more than one subject if their qualifications and experience allow it
  • Experience in teaching students between the ages of 16 to 20 (preferred)
  • Experience or a willingness to be meticulous in grading and providing comprehensive feedback on students’ work
  • Expected to teach around 4 hours per subject a week

Main Objectives

  • Carries out the professional duties of a teacher under the Academic Director and NCUK norms and guidelines
  • Performs particular assigned duties in accordance with directions given
  • Carries out duties according to school policy and procedure.

  • Understands the principles and purpose of assessment, and uses assessment as a tool to facilitate student learning.
  • Establishes effective professional relationships with students and colleagues based on mutual respect and understanding.

  • Provides a punctual follow-up to the students and takes appropriate action when needed

Classroom Practice and Management

  • Professional relationships with students, to respect their individual needs, gender, cultural backgrounds, and encourage learning.
  • Promptly informs the Academic Director of any concerns.
  • Communicates and consults with parents/guardians in accordance with school policy and participates in meetings as required.
  • Maintains supervision, good order and discipline among the students and safeguards their health and safety in accordance with the school’s regulations and policy statements.
  • Supervises designated classes or groups at all times
  • Maintains a well-presented, stimulating and organised classroom environment for student learning. Resources and equipment are well maintained and their use responsibly supervised.

Specific Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • ICT literate and conversant with the latest developments in ICT application in education innovation
  • Ability to analyse data from a variety of sources
