How are NCUK Universities supporting international students?
Posted:
We asked NCUK Student Ambassadors to tell us how their universities are helping them settle in before the classes begin, and we have some amazing feedback that we would like to share with you.
First and more importantly, maintaining efficient communication with students has been key to NCUK Universities.
Student Ambassador Felix has felt confident about his decision of studying abroad since his university has been constantly in touch with him to provide him with updates and online resources.
Nicolle, who completed the International Foundation Year in Peru and who has just joined The University of Manchester for her second year, claims that there has been constant email communication with her university. Even some lecturers have already been approaching students individually to wish them good luck with their studies!
Whilst NCUK Universities have been carrying out online induction sessions, virtual open days and offering plenty of health and safety advice for students, some might wonder what will happen to extracurricular activities that traditionally require face to face contact.
Some positive comments from students like Apatsanun, who is currently back at the University of Bristol, suggest that most universities will be introducing, for the first time ever, hundreds of student societies to freshers virtually!
Whereas starting university this year has posed many challenges to all students around the world, the current situation might be having a great impact on how international students feel.
For most of these students, this is the first time they leave their homes to live in a foreign country. This year, not only they will have to deal with adapting to a new culture and language, but they will also be miles away from home.
If students find that they are struggling or just need some advice regarding their courses, finances or mental health, their universities are here to help! NCUK Universities are experts in providing students with all the support they need to help them settle into their new lives.
At NCUK we are extremely proud of our students’ achievements and resilience and we wish them all the best in their new and exciting journey.
