Karen’s Journey

The academic year is finally over and the feeling of joy surrounds the students’ environment. However, a nostalgic sentiment persists when thinking about the end of university.

Studying

My final year of university was filled with increasingly demanding assignments, stressful nights to study for the final exams and countless hours of practicing presentations and exercises for final projects. I will not lie, I had some issues with one of my final exams. I was so stressed and nervous that I thought I had answered a question wrong. Waiting for the final grades seemed as an infinite time.

At the end of the day, I realised that all the hard work that I had put in during my time at university had paid off.  All this effort, consistency and will allowed me to attain a first-class honours degree from Manchester Metropolitan University. This also helped me to rapidly secure a job in my home country, Mexico. I’m extremely proud of my achievements and wouldn’t be where am I today without NCUK.

Now that I have finished university I feel nostalgic. Nostalgic about all the friends I had to leave by returning home. Nostalgic about the fact that I will start working and leave behind all the lectures and teachers that allowed me to reach where I currently stand. Nostalgic about not being a student anymore and not to experience new things and cultures every day. I will keep these memories with me for the rest of my life.
