Dr. Debra McDermott, Director at UOWD College, welcomed attendees and shared valuable information regarding the partnership with NCUK and the benefits that NCUK qualifications will offer students across the region.

Dr. McDermott’s speech was followed by Maria McKenna’s, NCUK’s Global Development Director at NCUK, who spoke about how Dubai is a strategic location for NCUK and is a regional hub, not only for students locally but for students from other GCC countries.

UOWD also welcomed representatives from the British Embassy, and University of Wollongong Australia Prof Patricia Davidson, Vice-Chancellor and President; Ms. Marisa Mastroianni, Group CEO, and Managing Director; and Prof David Currow, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

There were panel discussions around topics such as the potential opportunities for international students entering New Zealand in a post-pandemic world, how NCUK’s International Foundation Year will help students through the transition from high school to university, and NCUK’s plans for further collaborations in the region.

Partnering with UOWD is an exciting extension of the significant growth and demand NCUK has undergone across the MENA region over recent years. We are excited that many students from across a number of key markets can now study a guaranteed pathway to world-class university degrees abroad, all of this in an exciting and vibrant study destination at UOWD’s campus. We firmly believe this will grow into a crucial strategic partnership for NCUK and our university network in the years to come.
