Welcoming Student Counsellors from Around the World: Regional Counsellor Training
Between Monday, 27 November and Friday, 1 December, NCUK held a Regional Counsellor Training Event in Manchester where we welcomed Student Counsellors from Nigeria, Peru, Qatar, Ireland, Algeria, Hong Kong and the UK for a powerful three days of training and university visits.
On the first day, the Student Support and University Partnerships team led an Expert Day focussing on introducing new university partners, visa compliance and some critical guidance on the university application journey. NCUK welcomed over eight universities to participate in various panel sessions and network.
The day finished with a Study Centre-University Dinner in Manchester which was a great opportunity for some structured and unstructured conversations, deepening relationships between our core stakeholder groups.
On the following days, NCUK representatives took Study Centre colleagues to visit the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Our Study Centre from Algeria also had a private tour of the University of Salford due to the close links between the Centre and the University, which has resulted in fantastic progression in recent years.
Thank to NCUK for all of the energy, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness over the past few days. Your dedication to giving everyone a really informative and useful few days has been incredible and I really appreciate all the effort and organisation that must have gone on behind the scenes. I found the whole experience incredibly useful: from the sessions on Tuesday, particularly related to compliance, visas and new university partnerships, to visiting the four different universities over the past two days.
