University of Bristol’s Dentistry BDS five-year degree comprises clinical activity with integrated scientific and technical teaching. With a strong core of clinical work throughout, theory, science, clinical skills, personal and professional development and teamworking are integrated at the relevant levels.

MB ChB Medicine is the primary medical qualification awarded by the University of Bristol and is recognised by the General Medical Council. As a student on this course, you will learn about the art, science and craft of medicine through a blend of lectures, case-based learning and practical work

Dentistry BDS

The programme structure is helical, with four main themes of development: Practitioner, Scholar and scientist, Professional and Agent of Change, Person and Citizen. You will be introduced to basic concepts in the healthy patient before progressing to apply your knowledge and skills to treat an increasingly complex range of oral disease.

  • AAA from the NCUK International Foundation Year
  • Grade A on English for Academic Purposes module from the NCUK International Foundation Year
  • UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test)
  • Work experience is required
  • Multiple mini interviews (MMI)

MB ChB Medicine

As a student on this course you will learn about the art, science and craft of medicine through early clinical exposure in hospital, community and primary care settings; state-of-the-art anatomy facilities including cadaveric prosections; inter-professional working with students of nursing, pharmacy and physiotherapy and integration of basic science and clinical learning throughout the course.

  • AAA from the NCUK International Foundation Year
  • Grade A* on English for Academic Purposes module from the NCUK International Foundation Year
  • UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test)
  • Work experience is recommended
  • Admission is subject to an Occupational Health Check and interview
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
