NCUK to Deliver the IFY in Taiwan!

NCUK have signed a five year agreement with the Taipei City Government Dept. of Education to deliver the International Foundation Year (IFY) qualification in Business, in three high schools which includes Taipei Municipal Zhong Zheng High School, Yu Cheng High School, and Nan Gang High School. These schools will begin delivering the IFY from September 2019 with Taipei Municipal Chenggong High School delivering the IFY in Engineering from September 2020.

Since 2018, the Department of Education for Taipei City Government has been promoting international curriculums in public high schools and now introduces the NCUK International Foundation Year. Mr. Tseng Tsan-chin, Commissioner of the Department of Education for Taipei City Government officially witnessed the signing ceremony represented by Principal Chiang Hui-zhen from Zhong Zheng High School, and Georgina Jones, Market Development Director from NCUK on Friday 8th March 2019.

The promotion of internationalisation in education is crucial, and the Taipei City Government will provide firm support to ensure international curriculums are run properly. The partnership with NCUK provides the opportunity for those who wish to pursue an overseas degree, which will in time improve the capabilities and the level of competitiveness for our students in their future development.

Zhong Zheng High Scool, Yu Cheng High School, and Nan Gang High School plan to start running the NCUK International Foundation Year in Business from September 2019. The IFY qualification will serve as a pathway to give students guaranteed access* to some of the very best universities in the UK. The NCUK IFY equips students with a variety of English and study skills required to pursue a degree overseas.

International Foundation Year

IFY students who successfully pass the exams will be guaranteed a place to one of NCUK universities, without the additional requirement of IELTS. The implementation and development of the NCUK IFY program is another milestone for the development and internationalization of public high schools in Taipei City.

With initiative and support from the Department of Education for Taipei City Government, this partnership with NCUK opens exciting opportunities for students from Taiwan. They will now have more international study opportunities to equip themselves with a variety of skills to contribute and make a difference to the economy and society of tomorrow. Zhong Zheng High School, Yu Cheng High School and Nan Gang High School will begin with the IFY Business stream from September 2019 with each of the schools planing to recruit 15 students for every cohort and will share teaching resources. The NCUK IFY puts emphasis in cultivating and developing students’ independent learning abilities. Business stream students will study EAP (English for Academic Purposes), plus three other academic subjects (Maths, Economics and Business Studies) with a total 600 teaching hours, and another 600 hours on independent learning and research. Students will benefit from direct entry to NCUK Universities after passing the NCUK assessments.
