NCUK and ECCTIS will be delivering a joint interactive webinar exploring the role of International Foundation Year qualifications and the vital role they play to help international students gain admission into university.

The webinar will feature an overview of NCUK’s multi-exit International Foundation Year and how it prepares students both academically and linguistically for university study. The session will also feature a discussion panel of representatives from NCUK’s Global Network of Study Centres and Universities:

  • Nico Decourt, NCUK Academic Development Manager
  • James Griffith, Regional Manager at Mander Portman Woodward (NCUK Study Centre)
  • Anne Lawrence, Director of International Pathway Programmes at the University of Leeds (NCUK University)

Anne Lawrence

Anne Lawrence is Director of International Pathways Programmes at the University of Leeds. She has worked in international education for much of her working career and has lived and travelled widely overseas. Anne has worked with NCUK qualifications in China becoming Director of Academic Affairs across all China centres in the mid-2000s. She wrote the NCUK International Foundation Year and NCUK Master’s Preparation English for Academic Purposes (EAP) syllabi and the second iteration of the NCUK Master’s Preparation.  She is passionate about supporting international students on their study journey.

Anne Lawrence

 

Anne is responsible for the University strategy on Pathways. She directs the International Pathways Centre at the University of Leeds including the university’s International Foundation Year and the relationship with our two key external partners: NCUK & Study Group.

In terms of her external commitments, Anne is Chair of the University Pathway Alliance and sits on the editorial board for the InForm Journal. Anne is also the author of ‘Business Presentations’, in the Longman ‘English for Work’ series.

James Griffiths

James Griffiths

James is Regional Manager at Mander Portman Woodward. James has been working in international recruitment since 2014, recruiting students for NCUK Foundation Year courses specifically for the past 4 years – previously for British Study Centres and more recently for MPW’s Study Centres in Birmingham and Cambridge.

James has worked closely with students as a key contact at all points of their Foundation Year journey, from initial enquiry stage through to their university graduation.

Nico Decourt

Following 16 years working in industry and running his own business, Nico started lecturing at Staffordshire University in 2008.

After 8 years as a senior lecturer, teaching from foundation years to master’s level, he became the academic group leader for the Information Systems programme area. During his time at Staffordshire University, he was involved with supporting the overseas partners in Malaysia, Oman, China, the Middle East, India, the US, and Africa.

Nico joined an international higher education institution as an Academic Development Manager in July 2017 and joined NCUK in 2019 as an Academic Development Manager supporting Deliver Partners with teaching and learning requirements in our South America, Middle East, African and European regions.
