Within our University Partnerships division, we are proud to be launching the NCUK International Foundation Year at our London centre (200 Pentonville Road, London, N1 9JP) from September 2021.

Qualifications and Experience

Successful candidates will have a minimum of a Master’s degree in a relevant subject, be confident teaching both online and face-to-face, be experienced in teaching international students at these levels and be able to work autonomously.

  1. Undergraduate degree in a related subject, and a relevant academic qualification at UK graduate level (Essential).
  2. Relevant teaching experience (Essential). Normally a minimum of two years. This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/programme management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
  3. A recognised teaching qualification in relevant subject (Desirable).
  4. The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum (Essential).
  5. An understanding of UK/Western higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential).
  6. Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context
    (Essential).
  7. Experience of the development of academic programmes (Desirable).
  8. Experience of academic assessment and standards, and of quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
  9. Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable).
  10. An understanding and appreciation of private-sector education (Desirable).
  11. Industry experience in working in a related sector (Desirable).
  12. Membership of a professional body (Desirable).

Skills (Essential)

  7. The ability to contribute to study programme development, and to playing an important part in a central team enabling students’ progress with patience and empathy, managing diverse needs and challenges effectively whilst liaising and communicating effectively with stakeholders and colleagues.
  8. The ability to set, review and mark formative and summative assessments in line with a published syllabus.
  9. A record of attention to detail, thoroughness and fairness, including in administrative duties.
  10. The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources.
