My visit to Swinburne University of Technology
Written by Amy-Rose Cauley, NCUK Market Development Manager
I recently had the opportunity to visit Swinburne University of Technology, one of the NCUK Universities located in Australia. I arrived after a short train journey from Melbourne’s CBD directly to the main campus doors. I wanted to take a tour of the campus to see first-hand where NCUK students can progress to after completing the NCUK International Foundation Year and/or the NCUK International Year One and the staff at Swinburne were happy to show me round.
As my visit was during their summer break, the campus was quiet so I was able to see the facilities and accommodation without disturbing the students. Swinburne’s urban Hawthorne campus in Melbourne, is superbly located in a buzzing inner city suburb. Everything is located onsite so students don’t necessarily need to leave the campus if they don’t want to!
The accommodation itself is located just minutes away from all of the main university buildings which means that getting to lectures is an easy task! The shared apartment that I viewed accommodates for four people and offers a great comfortable space for students to relax with friends as well as a good area to study in. Not only this but the flats had amazing views of Melbourne which was actually voted the second most liveable city in the world in the Global Liveability Rankings 2019!
Swinburne University of Technology’s campus felt extremely safe and welcoming and has lots to offer for students. We visited the 24 hour late lab library, an abundance of cafes, multi faith prayer rooms, the onsite medical centre and lastly the amazing careers and employment service which offers workshops, career guidance events, professional placements, internships and industry linked projects that count towards a students’ qualification.
My time at Swinburne University of Technology was excellent and I am really impressed with their modern, well equipped, safe campus.
NCUK students are able to progress onto a huge variety of courses at Swinburne University of Technology including Engineering, Design, Film and TV, Nursing, Science, Architecture, Game Design, Animation, Business and Aviation.
Progressing to the university after completing the NCUK International Foundation Year or NCUK International Year One would be a great choice so I recommend that students visit and see for themselves the fantastic opportunities that awaits them in Melbourne!
