NCUK Counsellors Connect 2024 in Karachi, Pakistan

On Wednesday 28 August 2024, the NCUK Counsellors Connect event took place at the British High Commission in Karachi. This event brought together school and college counsellors, and educationalists from leading institutions across the region with the aim to raise awareness about the diverse international educational opportunities available to Pakistani students through NCUK.
Counsellors had the opportunity to enhance their skills in career guidance, professional development, share best practices, and network with peers from leading educational institutions. The event featured insightful presentations on NCUK’s offerings, engaging discussions, and interactive networking sessions that fostered meaningful collaboration and dialogue.
The presence of distinguished guests added significant value to the NCUK Counsellors Connect event. Martin Dawson, Deputy British High Commissioner in Pakistan, reinforced the strong educational ties between the UK and Pakistan, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in education.

Guest speaker Ali Asghar (pictured left), a Canadian-qualified and certified career counsellor, further enriched the event with a session on best practices in career counselling. His focus on active listening strategies and effective guidance techniques provided valuable insights for counsellors looking to enhance their support for students.
The event emphasised the crucial role counsellors play in guiding students through their academic and career journeys, by equipping Pakistani students with the necessary tools for success in a globalised world. It also established a strong foundation for future partnerships and outreach activities, fostering continued collaboration between NCUK and Karachi’s educational community. By promoting enhanced counselling practices, the event ensured that more students could access international opportunities for academic and professional growth.
