NCUK Student Ambassador event

Last month, NCUK had the pleasure to host its first ever Student Ambassador event. This took place at NCUK’s Head Offices in Manchester, UK, and it welcomed seven Student Ambassadors who travelled across the country to attend a day of informative sessions, group discussions and photo shoots.

Over the past years, NCUK student ambassadors have been supporting international students worldwide by answering their questions via chat and by publishing lots of useful study abroad content through NCUK’s social media channels and website.

Our Student Ambassador event was an opportunity for a selected group of ambassadors to meet each other in person and to share their ideas about how they can best support international students interested in studying an NCUK qualification to progress to a university abroad.

The ambassadors got to discuss in creative and intuitive ways all the options available to highlight their study abroad journeys. This involved sharing top tips on life as an international student in the UK by showcasing their favourite university buildings and preferred study spots, sharing content ideas about their favourite restaurants or revealing their top student hacks.

It was fantastic to hear all the suggestions and feedback given by students from so many different backgrounds and to learn more about the reasons why they decided to study with NCUK themselves. Ambassador Obor, who studied with NCUK in Nigeria and is now completing a bachelor’s degree in Biological Studies at The University of Manchester noted that one of the most important things for her when looking at her study options was the high academic success rate and how well-prepared students are for university after completing an NCUK qualification.

On the other hand, Ambassador Sybel pointed out that he preferred to leave his home country, Rwanda, to study the International Foundation Year at an NCUK Study Centre in the UK since that allowed him to explore different university campuses in person. Sybel is now studying MEng Engineering at the University of Birmingham and is enjoying every second of it.

For student Ambassador Evelyn, location was an extremely important factor when looking at her international study options. Coming from Bogotá, Colombia, Evelyn needed a student destination that had as much nature as she could possibly find. We were delighted to hear of Evelyn’s experiences in Sheffield, where she’s now studying (BSc) Bioengineering at The University of Sheffield!

This not only was proof of how successful the academic paths these students have chosen but it also goes to show how there is an NCUK University destination for each student.

NCUK Student Ambassadors started their academic journeys with NCUK either in their home countries or in the UK at an NCUK Study Centre and have now progressed to top universities across the UK such as The University of Manchester, University of Bristol, University of Birmingham or The University of Leeds.
