The University of Bradford has appointed Professor Shirley Congdon as its next Vice-Chancellor. Professor Congdon is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic at the University of Bradford and will be the first woman to be Vice-Chancellor at Bradford.

Professor Congdon, an expert in the field of health and social care and with over 28 years’ experience in the higher education sector, will become only the eighth person to fill the role of Vice-Chancellor since the University was founded in 1966.

Professor Shirley Congdon has also contributed greatly to NCUK’s recent period of growth whilst being a member of the Board of Trustees for the Northern Consortium. NCUK would like to thank Professor Shirley Congdon for her time on the Board and we look forward to the continued close working with the University of Bradford.

The University of Bradford is one of ten founding members of the Northern Consortium; the charity owner of NCUK founded in 1987 to facilitate access to British education for international students. Professor Congdon will be replaced on the Board of Trustees by Stuart McKinnon-Evans, who became a member on 12 March 2019.
