You can gain paid work experience through the university’s co-op program—the first co-op program in Western Canada. Workshops, programming, and campus events are offered to prepare you with transferable skills, knowledge, and experience to ensure you are career-ready when you graduate.

UR’s student-run Volunteer Centre will help you find community-focused and accessible volunteer opportunities. Grad students and postdocs can access additional experiential learning opportunities that bolster career confidence and expand professional networks. Student Accommodation at the University of Regina

Housing is more than just a place to live — it’s a place to grow into the person you aspire to be. Staying on campus means joining a community dedicated to helping you excel both socially and academically. Everyone has a unique educational path, and Housing works together to help each person find the right balance between living and learning. You are offered a wide array of accommodations, from private dorms to multi-bedroom apartments. All utilities are conveniently included in one monthly price, and all housing units are centrally located on campus.

Staff are available 24 hours a day to assist with any questions or concerns about living on campus. You can also attend numerous fun events to help you get involved in the community and meet other residents. UR’s buildings feature lounge areas equipped with pool tables, gaming consoles, and study spaces. There are many new ways to make your stay with UR the best it can be!

Facilities at the University of Regina

The University of Regina’s main campus offers access to the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport, a building that features a three-court gymnasium with seating for up to 2,200 spectators, an elevated four-lane running track, lecture and classroom facilities, teaching and research laboratories, the Centre for Health, Wellness & Performance, the Athlete Health & Performance Initiative, two other gymnasiums, varsity sport team rooms including the Rams team headquarters, movement studios, the Aquatics Centre, and a 240-car underground parkade.

Outdoors, the University of Regina Field is a fully lit facility that was originally constructed in 2005. Since then, it has served as the practice facility for the Rams and as the practice and match home for the women’s soccer team.

The university also proudly offers services through the Student Wellness Centre, an inclusive care centre providing medical care from nurse practitioners and mental wellness services through professional counsellors. Sports & Clubs at the University of Regina

UR’s campus is incredibly diverse — and proudly supports events that celebrate the rich multicultural heritage of its student body. The University of Regina Student’s Union (URSU) is very active in creating a welcoming and fun environment for all students on campus!

UR’s athletics teams and sports clubs compete against other institutions across North America. The university attracts top-tier athletes from around the world. There are athletic scholarship opportunities for international students on our intervarsity athletic teams. Intervarsity athletic teams include: Basketball (M& W), Cross Country (M&W), Ice Hockey (M&W), Rams Football(M), Soccer (W), Swimming(M, W), Track &Field (M&W), Volleyball (W). Sustainability at the University of Regina

The University of Regina has a Sustainability Action Plan that facilitates and supports sustainability efforts in teaching, research, operations, and student experience. The institution is also working to align with and promote the Sustainable Development Goals through education and research. The QS World University Rankings ranked the University of Regina in the top 25 percent in the world for Sustainability in 2024. UR received high marks for efforts in Environmental Research, Health and Wellbeing, Equality, and Governance.

Sustainability Highlights:

  • UR researchers are focusing on issues that have global impacts such as climate change, water, energy, social and environmental justice, equality, education, and health and well-being.
  • As of 2023 the Print Optimisation Program led by Information Services has reduced the university’s greenhouse gas emissions associated with printers and printing by 40%, reduced annual printer and copier costs from over $900,000 per year to $350,000 per year and reduced paper consumption by over 30%.
  • Working with the campus community and industry partners the Facilities Management team leads the University in reducing our environmental footprint through energy efficiency, waste reduction, recycling and other carbon reduction initiatives.
  • Students operate a 5,000-square-foot fruit and vegetable garden on-campus, promoting sustainable, locally-grown organic food. The Green Patch also supports community engagement through food donations.

Scholarships

International Entrance Scholarship
  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program will be automatically considered for this award.
  • Students must have an admission average of at least 85%.
  • Students receive their choice of either $3,000 in tuition or housing credit.

International Student of Distinction Scholarship
  • 50 international students with the highest high school averages each term will be awarded free on-campus housing and a meal plan. This award is valued at $80,000 for 4 years ($20,000 x 4 years); 4.5 years for engineering students.
  • All international students applying to an undergraduate degree program directly from high school will be automatically considered for this award.
  • This award is renewable each year as long as students continue to complete 30 credit hours per calendar year and maintain a minimum UGPA of 80%.
