There are more than 160 student clubs and societies – perfect to help you find a new hobby or pursue an existing passion and make new friends with like-minded people. If you’re looking for an active lifestyle, the University of Surrey also has many sports clubs to join based at the Surrey Sports Park on campus, which also hosts a 50m swimming pool, a 120-station gym and a brand new, sector-leading, 10 court padel centre.

When you want to explore further afield, public transport is easy to access. Stag Hill is just 10 minutes’ walk from Guildford station with trains that can get you into central London in just 34 minutes or direct to Gatwick airport.

This figure rises to an impressive 97% for those graduates who took a placement whilst at Surrey (Graduate Outcomes 2025, HESA).

The University also has a dedicated team available to help international students throughout the application process – from advising on choosing the right course to applying for a visa and preparing for your first few weeks at Surrey.

With so much happening on campus, it’s easy to see why so many students want to live there. On campus, there are over 5,750 rooms, with choices to suit all budgets and requirements. For peace of mind, there is a 24-hour security team on campus, 365 days a year.

Across all the university’s departments, students benefit from fantastic facilities for group learning, advanced research, and private study. State-of-the-art facilities include specialist labs, studios, classrooms, lecture theatres, simulation facilities and media suites.

Surrey is home, among other facilities, to the world’s leading innovation centre for 5G/6G research, an internationally renowned clinical trials unit, and the STAR LAB for space robotics. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework 2021, the University was ranked 33rd in the UK for overall research quality and 41 per cent of submitted research was rated as world leading.

Surrey Sports Park offers world-class facilities and a vibrant community for all fitness levels, as well as being home to university sports teams competing and training at the highest level.
