Swansea University – A Home Away from Home

A Small City with Big Opportunities
Established in 1920, Swansea University is an institution with a 100-year heritage. We have two campuses, the Bay Campus and Singleton Park Campus, both located close to the city centre and just a short walk from the beach. We are also located on the edge of the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Surrounded by staff and students from over 130 countries worldwide, wherever you’re from, you’ll never be far from home in Swansea, and will become part of our diverse international community, that’s dedicated to helping you succeed. As a result, we are ranked 9th in the UK for the percentage of graduates in employment, further study or both, one year after graduating (UK Government LEO 2024).
Excellent Student Experience
On campus you’ll find our Students’ Union, which is run by students, for students. The Union is here to make your student life better, by providing you with the chance to meet new people, helping you to settle into life in Swansea.
You’ll automatically become a member of the Union and will have the opportunity to join over 150 societies and over 50 sports clubs, with plenty of opportunities to meet like-minded individuals.
- A recent study ranked Swansea as the happiest University in Wales and the third happiest in the UK (Resume.io)
- Swansea has also been named as the 7th Safest City in the UK, and the Safest City in Wales (Complete University Guide 2024), and
- 100% of students surveyed would recommend Swansea University (UniCompare).
Hear from Current Student, Basma:
“You feel like you know everyone here in Swansea. Swansea is a very safe place to be, and it’s one of the best cities for students. Everyone treats you like you’re a part of their family.”
Scholarships and Bursaries
We understand that going to university is a big financial commitment, so to help with the costs, we offer a range of scholarships and bursaries. These include our International Excellence Scholarships of up to £7,000 and our Thrive Bursaries of up to £3,000, as well as a wide range of other opportunities.
Low Cost of Living
