This six-year degree leads to the awards of Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMed) and Doctor of Medicine (MD). It aims to develop personal attributes, knowledge and skills appropriate to the professional practice of Medicine.

Students will focus on basic medical sciences in relation to the human life cycle; social, ethical and legal issues related to health care; and early experience in clinical or other health-related environments. The MD includes the independent learning project (ILP year 4), followed by a clinical transition course. In all phases of the degree, you will be required to travel to various clinical environments associated with UNSW.

Entry requirements

Medicine intakes are in February only and students need to apply by 30 November in the year prior to admission. However, applications open in the previous March and the university will begin assessing and interviewing candidates immediately so early applications are encouraged.

Tuition Fees and Scholarships

  • 2021 Indicative First Year Fee is $76,080. 2021 Indicative Fee to Complete Degree is $478,820.

Fees are subject to annual review by the University and may increase annually, with the new fees effective from the start of each calendar year. Indicative fees to complete the program include tuition plus an estimate of study-related costs of approximately $1,000 per year.
