The Harbin Institute of Technology was founded in 1920 and entered the ranks of the first six key universities in the country in 1954. It is known as the “cradle of engineers“. 1996 In 1999, it entered the first batch of key construction universities under the national “211 Project”.
In 1999, it was designated as one of the nine key construction universities under the national “985 Project“. In 2017, it was selected as a Class A university for the “Double First-Class” construction. In 2022, 8 disciplines will be selected for the new round of “Double First-Class” construction list.
The HIT currently has three campuses in Harbin, Weihai, and Shenzhen, with over 61,800 full-time Chinese students, over 9,000 international students (including over 5,200 degree students), and over 3,000 full-time teachers.
It has 25 full-time academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 472 national-level leading talents, 563 national-level young talents, and 18 national-level teaching masters.
