Quanzhou No.5 High School (formerly named Quanzhou No.5 Middle School), founded in 1902, is a time-honoured school with a history of more than 120 years. Being one of the top schools in Fujian Province, Quanzhou No.5 High School has cultivated more than 40,000 students, many of whom were admitted to top-notch universities in China.
Quanzhou No.5 High School initiated the International Department in 2011. This dual programme offers American high school courses as well as Chinese ones, forming a combined system where students can study with a global outlook and have the opportunity to apply for overseas colleges. The International Department offers AP and A-level courses, and Quanzhou No.5 High School is an officially registered school of AP by the College Board and an A-level exam centre of Cambridge International Education and Oxford AQA.
Starting in 2023, to meet the diverse academic needs of students, the International Department of Quanzhou No.5 High School has added a Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Joint Entrance Examination program for students from those areas. Since its establishment, the International Department of Quanzhou No. 5 High school already has 13 graduating classes. To date, its students have received a total of 1,912 admission offers from institutions across 18 regions and countries, including China’s Hong Kong and Macao, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, Germany, France, and Israel.
Among these offers are admissions from world-renowned universities such as Cornell University in the U.S., Imperial College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and University College London in the U.K., the University of Toronto in Canada, the University of Sydney in Australia, Seoul National University in South Korea, and the University of Hong Kong.
