NCUK welcomes the University of Glasgow to its University Network

NCUK is proud to announce its new partnership with the University of Glasgow.
Being a member of the Russell Group, the university offers a wide range of high-quality degree programmes, spanning four core disciplines: Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, Arts and Humanities, and Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences. The university has a remarkable track record when it comes to academic reputation. Today, the University of Glasgow is ranked 80th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2027).
This partnership marks the 11th QS World Top 100 University to join NCUK’s network of universities.
Located in the heart of Scotland’s biggest city, the university has a primary campus that sits at Gilmorehill, along with other campuses at Garscube and Dumfries in southwest Scotland. The University of Glasgow welcomed 35,000 students from more than 140 countries, making the institution highly diverse, inclusive and international.
At the University of Glasgow, students are supported through the Careers Service, which is on hand throughout their time at university and even after graduation. The award-winning team are experts in providing comprehensive support to students, helping them explore their employability and next steps after university. Students can visit the dedicated Peer Career Support Team at the Career Studio to speak to advisors or even book a coaching appointment with a member of the team.
With these services available on campus, NCUK students who progress to the University of Glasgow will have plenty of opportunities to explore placements, companies and career options, not just in Scotland, but across the UK and abroad. With regular careers fairs, employer pop-ups and careers masterclasses held throughout the year on campus, students can start building connections and exploring their options while they’re still at university.
Among University of Glasgow alumni is David MacMillan, who won the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work in building molecules which now allow scientists to produce better medicines more sustainably.
He is among eight other winners who received Nobel Prizes for their work in science and peace. Other notable alumni include Adam Smith, a professor, economist and author; Lord Kelvin, physicist and engineer, and James McCune Smith, who is the first African American to receive a university medical degree in 1837.
