East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) is a key national university directly administered by China’s Ministry of Education, with its main campus located in Xuhui District, Shanghai. Established in 1952 through the merger of the chemical engineering departments of several institutions, it was originally named the East China Institute of Chemical Technology. It was renamed East China University of Science and Technology in 1993. In 1996 it was included in China’s “Project 211”, and in 2017 it was selected as part of the “Double First-Class” initiative. Known as the “cradle of chemical engineers” in China, ECUST enjoys a prominent reputation in the field of chemical engineering and has trained numerous talents for the development of China’s chemical and high-tech industries.
